Editor:On monday, New Vision published a story entitled "UWA,Kasese deal flops. I am surprised by the decision
of the tourism minister, Ephraim Kamuntu. The Kasese District Local Government is a corporate entity
that has identified ways of raising funds locally. According to the Uganda wild Authority, shs 1b was identified
but the tourism minister has advised to instead look for a provate investor. Following the trends in the private
sector promotion and investment in Uganda, why has the Minister zeroed on this alternative instead of letting
UWA and Kasese district handle the deal as already planned?
I strongly believe that this project would bring hope to the district which is struggling to improve on it's local revenue
collection.
The minister should inform the people of Kasese why this deal could not be executed without involving a private
investor.
